We said that there wouldn't be another newsletter until next year but we just had to make an exception to tell you about a new, local vendor whose products we just put on the shelves today. If you're still planning to come down for your holiday shopping, we thought you'd like to know about this now!
Snowdon House Gourmet & Gifts is located in North Saanich and its founder, Laura Waters, as her website states, "...produces a bounty of unique food products including fruit infused vinegars, beer & cider bread mixes, soup mixes, dip mixes, Sparkling Fir Essence, and brie toppers."
Why are these products so special? Well, in addition to being incredibly delicious, they're also so well suited for this time of year! And since making any of her products are so simple and easy, the convenience factor is another BIG reason why you'll get excited to try them! The pre-made bread mixes require that you need only add your favourite beer or cider in order to bake a wonderfully simple yet extremely yummy loaf of bread. Pair that with one of numerous varieties of the "just add water" pre-made soup mixes and you've created an entire meal in about an hour. With bread mix flavours including tomato and basil beer, cranberry and ginger cider and chili and chives beer and soup flavours such as mulligatawny, pumpkin butternut squash and garden vegetable you can bet that your family will be asking repeatedly when it's time to eat!
There are also Gourmet Dips such as Popeye's Passion and Curried Yam that you can create by adding yogurt or sour cream.
But wait, there's more! Fruit infused vinegars can be used as is or diluted with water to create a refreshing drink. We have just a few varieties including Apricot Bay, Blueberry Cinnamon, Lemon Verbena Ginger, Elderflower, Rhubarb and the most popular and original Douglas Fir which is made from the trees growing on the Snowdon House property! And they make great gifts!
