Pepper's Newsletter June 12, 2018

Good morning!  It's that time once again where we let you in on new and exciting products and events that might be coming up soon at Pepper's! And this week is no different; there's a bunch of new items just waiting for you to try out. Of course, the attached weekly ad is another reason for this newsletter and, as always, we have a diverse selection of great deals! So without further adeau, let's get to it...

Olympic Krema Passionfruit Yogurt is a limited edition flavour that will likely disappear sometime in August so now is the time to try this deliciously rich and luxurious tropical sensation! At 9% milk fat, it's more of a thick, dessert yogurt and indulging could cause extreme euphoria! And because it's made in Delta, BC, you're supporting the local economy. Another reason to feel euphoric! What's not to like about that?

Europeans have been enjoying Perrier Strawberry Sparkling Natural Mineral Water for several years. Well it's finally made its way over to our neck of the woods and just in time, too, because summer is right around the corner! It has just a hint of ripe stawberry flavour to either quench your thirst or cleanse your palette.

Speaking of strawberries, our Thursday Only Daily Deal is 1lb California Strawberries for the low, low price of only $1.96! Don't miss out on this incredible deal available all day Thursday, June 14th!

Our produce department also has several new items starting with fresh garlic scapes from Guites Farm on the Saanich Peninsula. They are the flower bud of the garlic plant and are a delicious, edible part of the plant. They taste just like garlic but milder and can be used like it as well. But you can also steam, saute or grill them or chop up and use in a salad, toss into a stir-fry or even pickle. Nutritious and versatile, this springtime culinary treat won't be around for long!

Mann's Snacking Favorites Veggie Trays are a convenient and time-saving way to eat your veggies! Conventional veggies come with delicious traditional hummous and organic veggies are served with an organic ranch dip! If you're headed to the beach or setting out on a camping or road trip, these are ther perfect (and best of all, healthy) snacks for your family!

Califia (Cali-fee-yah) non-dairy beverages are really gaining traction among consumers, even those that drink milk! And due to popular demand, we've added Califia XX Espresso Cold Brew. As per the company website: Not a fan of those strong espresso shots from the coffee house? Get a refreshingly cool alternative with Califia Farms XX Espresso Cold Brew Coffee. This delicious beverage delivers a double dose of caffeine (90 mg per serving, to be exact), so you’re ready to go at a moment’s notice. Speaking of ready, you can forget about waiting for that espresso machine to pump out your much-needed caffeine kick. Instead, this delightfully delicious cold brew will be ready and waiting for you to pour straight from the fridge. This carefully crafted cold brew is made with our signature Almond milk to add just the right hint of sweetness to your daily grind. Grab life by the bottle and sip your way into another amazing day.

And you know what else? You can pour into molds, stick in the freezer and create a wonderfully refreshing frozen treat! Look for it near the store entrance with the other smoothies found in the produce case.

Come to think of it, you may want to save the Califia for after you try the newest (and possibly most dangerous) addition to our salty snack aisle! Paqui (rhymes with hockey) Haunted Ghost Pepper Tortilla Chips will literally burn the tongue right out of your mouth. Ok, that's an exaggeration. We would never get away with selling anything THAT dangerous. But they're hot. Really, really freakin' hot! And they're certified gluten-free! So grab a bag (and we recommend a Slush Puppie to boot) and terrify your taste buds!

One of the very first gluten-free products that we carried from waaaay back when was Natural Nectar Cracklebred and it was very popular indeed. But then, mysteriously, it was unavailable! But it's back again (yay)! The website states: Our Cracklebred is a unique, gourmet cracker that is perfect to top with cheeses, spreads, or fine salads. A delicate treat that is fat free, low calorie and irresistibly delicious. Cracklebred’s light and crispy texture is ideal for entertaining or as an accompaniment to any meal.

And finally, another popular product that we once carried but it disappeared for a long while is Cote D'Azur Fleur de Sel. Well, this gourmet sea salt is back on the shelf! Available in Original and Herbes de Provence, this is hand harvested salt, damp in colour and texture which actually reflects the purity of the salt. Use it on everything from delicate salads to hearty meat dishes. Herbes de Provence consists of the same exquisite salt with added basil, fennel, lavender, savoury and thyme.

Phew, that was a doosey of a newsletter! Hopefully there are a few items that piqued your interest. We try hard to bring you the edibles that you want, and we think we do a pretty good job fitting them somewhere into our (your) little store.

Don't forget that this Sunday is Father's Day! Make sure to show and tell your dad, stepdad, grandpa, husband or any of the men in your life who have made a difference how much you appreciate and care for them. And for all you dad's out there reading this: To the world you are a dad. But to your family you are the world.
