Happy New Year!! The slate's been wiped clean, the reset button pressed and it's out with the old and in with the new. If your 2018 was a bad year then no doubt you're looking forward to putting it behind you and starting fresh. If your 2018 was good then no doubt you're looking forward to another year full of opportunity. Either way, we're starting things off on the right foot with our first newsletter of the year!

If you made a resolution to eat healthier and reduce your sugar intake then pay attention because we have two new sweeteners that might interest you. Swerve is the Ultimate Sugar Replacement comprised of a unique blend of non-GMO ingredients that are derived from fruits and vegetables. It has zero calories, almost zero carbs, tastes, bakes and measures just like sugar, is tooth friendly and is easy to digest!

Lakanto Sweetener is very similar to Swerve with the exception that it also contains high-purity monk fruit extract. "Hey friend, pass the Nooch!" That's something you might hear at a vegan potluck. Nooch is a popular term among vegans for nutritional yeast. And nutritional yeast is a very popular topping for all kinds of foods because of its cheesy/nutty flavour, high protein and vitamin B12 content. If you're going to have some delicious popcorn, you're probably going to want to have a drink handy as well. Heirloom tomato. You've heard the term before but do you really know what an heirloom tomato is? Simply put, an heirloom tomato is one whose seeds have been passed down from generation to generation which allows farmers to pick the seeds from the tomatoes with the most desireable traits such as size, shape, colour, juiciness, etc. And they're also open-pollinated which means that they are pollinated through natural means (non-hybrid). Heirloom tomatoes often taste less acidic than regular red tomatoes and can come in funky shapes and colours. Now you can get these lovely Canadian grown beauties in a can by purchasing Hunts Early Harvest Diced Heirloom Tomatoes. These tomatoes are grown in the Chatham-Kent region of Ontario and are canned within 24 hours of harvest.
